Name & Meaning

Marnbi, derived from the Adnamanthynha language, translates to “Bronze-Winged Pigeon.” It also represents the Opal Dreaming. This name symbolises freedom, connection, and the ability to navigate between different worlds, reflecting the organisation’s mission to bridge traditional culture values with modern societal demands.

The Marnbi Elders Group provides cultural leadership and guidance to support the organisation’s work within the community. Meeting monthly, the Elders share knowledge, wisdom, and lived experience to ensure that Marnbi’s programs and services remain culturally strong, respectful, and community-led.

Grounded in cultural safety, the Elders Group plays an essential role in supporting positive outcomes for Aboriginal youth and families, from pregnancy through early childhood and beyond. Their guidance helps keep Marnbi connected to culture, community, and future generations.

Marnbi Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors provides strong governance, leadership, and strategic direction for Marnbi Aboriginal Corporation. The Board is responsible for overseeing the organisation’s vision, financial sustainability, accountability, and long-term growth.

Working closely with the CEO and leadership team, our Directors ensure that Marnbi operates with integrity, transparency, and in alignment with our values of Culture, Community, and Connection. They guide key decision-making, support strategic planning, and ensure our programs deliver meaningful and measurable outcomes for our youth, families, and community.

Together, our Board upholds our commitment to empowering young people, strengthening families, and building a future grounded in cultural strength and community wellbeing.
